Connecticut Public Library Garden Resource List
Plant a Seed, Read!
Libraries have been taking this year’s summer reading theme to heart for years. Seed libraries and community gardens feature in some of our CT Summer Story Project stories. Here is a list of libraries that have these resources for you to explore this summer!
The libraries featured have a variety of gardening resources:
Seed Libraries: seeds available for the public to take home and plant
Community Garden: gardens available for the public to enjoy. Depending on the garden, the community helps with the planting and maintenance, or the community enjoys the presence of the garden
Gardening Tools: Some libraries offer a Library of Things which may include tools you can check out and use for your garden at home
Farmer’s Market: A gathering of local vendors either at or near the library, or the library is a sponsor/participant
Read the stories that these programs inspired. Maybe you’ll be inspired to write one of your own!
